NEW FROM ARCAM
DV-135 Player new DVD
player for DiVA range
Arcam is recognized as one of the few
specialist manufacturers to design and
manufacture its own DVD players and has produced
ultra high performance players since 2000. The
new DiVA DV135 is the company’s latest
affordable DVD player and produces a picture and
sound quality that will delight all who witness
it. From thoroughbred roots it shares many of
its components with the company’s DiVA DV137 and
FMJ DV139 players.
Using the Zoran Vaddis 888s core processor
and Arcam’s broadcast quality circuitry, the
picture from the DV135 is class leading. Zoran’s
motion adaptive de-interlacing techniques mean
pictures are pure, clean and startlingly
detailed. The internal video scaling engine
allows the DV135 to supply high resolution
pictures direct to the screen using its HDMI
output. In many cases this means bypassing the
low cost and inferior performance scaling chips
fitted to most of today’s digital video
displays. The DV135’s resolution options even
include 768p for direct input to any of the
popular 1366 x 768 pixel displays that choose to
implement this format.
As you would expect from a company with a
30-year heritage, audio performance from the
DV135 is stunning. Ultra high precision clocks,
Wolfson 8740 DACs and low noise toroidial
transformer based power supplies ensure CD
playback will delight movie and music lovers
alike. DVD-Audio and SACD discs also benefit
from the DV 135’s world-class audio design
delivering stunning music from all discs.
For DVDs, extended buffer memory means no
pause during the layer change of dual layer
discs. “CUE” or “Chroma Upsampling Error” (a
video processing artifact often found on DVD
players) is completely absent from the DV135
ensuring a clean, crisp and film-like picture
that leaves its competition standing.

AVR280 a new AV receiver for DiVA range
Few
companies can boast to be a major player in the
world of AV receivers. Only one specialist
company has succeeded in this quest: Arcam.
Arcam’s receivers are some of the most advanced
in the world and the new AVR280 is designed to
continue and build on that success.
Incorporating a host of audiophile quality
components and design techniques, the DiVA
AVR280 is perfect for a combined movie and music
system. Its feature list is perfect for mid-size
cinema systems, even incorporating the latest
HDMI switching for DVD players, set-top boxes or
gaming systems.
Movie lovers will be thrilled at the dynamic
power and sound-staging the AVR280 delivers,
while music enthusiasts will be enraptured by
its passionate performance. Drawing heavily on
the company’s FMJ AV9, DiVA AVR300 and DiVA
AVR350 designs, the AVR280 excels in both
performance and connectivity. More than ten
years of AV design experience has gone into the
AVR280. A good example of this is Arcam’s
refusal to rely on audio delivery over HDMI.
Arcam were one of the first companies to realize
the massive sound quality compromise that this
form of audio connection currently represents.
While video over HDMI can be simply stunning,
Arcam currently favour the higher performance
COAX or Optical SPDIF connection.
For control in larger systems, a full suite
of Infra Red (IR) and RS232 control options make
the AVR280 a perfect solution for high
performance custom applications. Its power
amplifier section is designed to deliver dean
music power to a wide range of loudspeaker
systems from sub/sats to full-blown
floorstanding models or in-walls.
While main output video switching features
both HD compatible circuitry and up-conversion
the independent Zone 2 output allows a second
room to be fed with both simple audio and video.
Featuring independent switching and volume
control, the second room or “Zone” can be
controlled via its own IR input with source
components being passed on by the AVR280’s IR
output.

ARCAM FMJ DV139 - Arcam
introduces its best ever DVD player!
With such uncertainty in the future of high
definition formats, it is all too easy to forget
why people invest in audio and video system for
the home. For some it’s the love of music and
for others the thrill of a great movie. The
DV139 has been designed as a master of both
disciplines. Put simply, it is the player to
deliver the very best in home entertainment now,
and for many years to come.
Some
of the most cutting edge DVD technology in the
world has been utilised in the DV139. Its core
processor, the Zoran Vaddis 888s, is designed to
obtain the very best quality from all the
popular disc types including DVD-Video, CD,
DVD-Audio and SACD. Its internal video
processors are from Anchor Bay Technology. For
de-interlacing the DV139 uses the ABT102 with
class leading bad edit detection and “any
format” cadence processing. For remarkable video
scaling the ABT1010 is used. This IC is revered
as possibly the best scaling engine available
and offers outputs at up to 1080p resolution.
To ensure an equally breathtaking audio
performance,
Wolfson
audio DACs provide accurate digital to analogue
conversion 24-bit 192kHz, whilst ultra low
jitter clocking ensures a solid and accurate
sound field. Twin toroidal mains transformers
mean delicate audio signals enjoy a completely
separate power supply from their digital and
video counterparts. The tri-laminate Acousteel
chassis mechanically separates the electronic
circuits from internal or air borne vibration.
Designed for movie and music enthusiasts, the
DV139’s specification will delight the most
ardent of audiophiles and videophiles. In
addition, its full suite of Infra Red (IR) and
RS 232 control options makes it the perfect
choice for high performance custom
installations.
